What are the basic differences between resin art and epoxy resin art? Basically, there is a distinction made between these various types of resin based art between the various designations available from art suppliers. It isn’t unusual that these terms are used almost synonymously. Basically, resin art is an artistic craft where layers of colored (or colored with a pigment other than white) molds are poured into a particular mold which is then pulled up on the surface of the art piece.
In resin based art, different tools are used for adding the different layers of paint to the molds. One tool is called the hard plastic brush. Other tools are spatula and other specialized tools used for adding the different layers of color to the resin. The resin is heated to the proper heat range using special resin heating equipment. This process can take up to an hour depending on the thickness of the paint or colorant being added.
After the resin is heated it is moved into a resin quenching machine. The resin is forced to flow through a die cutting unit to form the desired shape. The resin is then quenched using hot water which speeds up the cooling process and thickens the layers of resin in the mold while it is still in the quenching unit.
